My Happy Thought {by Kate}

"Think happy thoughts... And you can fly!"

--Peter Pan

This is Kate. She is great. She is my husbands twin sister and a really great friend. Everything about Kate is bursting with love, energy, beauty and creativity. I cant praise her enough. Here are her happy thoughts...

Little things in life are what make me the happiest.

-I love napping next to my mom while she plays solitar.

-I love when the leaves begin to change color in the crisp fall air

-I love dancing around the house when no one else is home

-It makes me happy when someone remembers something insignificant that we talked about a long time before

-It makes me happy to make faces at little kids when their parents aren't watching

Thanks Kate!

Tales from Cinderella

This is my friend, Linsey. You may remember her from this. She is super cute and such a talented princess. Here is a short story of one of her favorite memories as a princess. . .

Once, as Cinderella, I was telling about how I had to do all the cooking, and the cleaning, and the sewing, and the mending, and the scrubbing, all by myself....and one of the kids said, "You sound just like my mom!" Perfect.

You never know what these kids will say!

New Book!

So a friend of mine just wrote a book. A book! He has a really funny blog called Notice your World and its full of fun stories that he claims are true. {Ok I believe him!} He is super talented and VERY creative. I was anxious to help him get the word out so he offered to interview himself {yes, himself} and tell us a little bit about it. Here is his interview...

You chose to have me interview myself. Way to go, dumping all the pressure on me.

Really though, I’m not complaining and I appreciate the exposure.

Writers are slightly crazy to begin with. We have all these characters in our heads, whispering, shouting, giggling nonstop, or whimpering in the corner. We invent them, give them a voice all their own, and come up with their personal way of viewing the world. How crazy is that? To have these complete or semi-complete people floating around in our heads?

My novel has like forty-two point of view characters. That makes me extra crazy. It’s not really that many, closer to ten, but you get the point. Talking to myself isn’t much of a stretch. So, here goes.

Q: What’s the story behind this whole The Crystal Bridge thingy?

A: Thingy? I’m glad I’m the writer out of the two of us.

Q: I know, right? Dodged a bullet there.

A: Okay, the novel originally came into my head as two separate dreams. Dream one was about a boy who could open wormholes to other worlds. Nobody else could see them and he always returned to the same moment he left, unchanged. So, no one believed him. Dream two was about a lab creating holographic simulations that began reaching into alternate worlds with some odd side effects. Several interesting characters emerged the more I thought about these strange dreams.

Q: How did these separate dreams become one?

A: My wife suggested that I should combine them, so I did.

Q: Smart man.

A: This is true.

Q: Tell me about some of these other characters.

A: Well, Kaden is the teen boy with the wormholes. Aren is a teenage girl who can see and experience other people’s memories as though they were her own. James is a geneticist obsessed with dragons, Angie is his boss, running the genetic simulations department for one of the bad guys, Vander. I have more characters who pop up on the other world and a villain creature that lives between universes. I could go on and on. There’s Evandrel, Hasla, Dveldor, Taggert, and—

Q: Let’s stop there. We don’t want to give too much away, do we?

A: Um…I guess not.

Q: You really want to say one more character’s name, don’t you?

A: And Lyle. Lyle’s pretty cool.

Q: Feel better?

A: Much, thank you.

Q: Sounds complex. Where do you find inspiration for your stories?

A: Didn’t I already mention dreams?

Q: Did you?

A: I’m pretty sure forgetting a conversation you had three seconds ago with yourself isn’t a good sign. You may need help.

Q: Probably right. Mostly dream then?

A: Yes. I have six or seven stories floating around my noggin that have all come from dreams. I’m very lucky, I know. While most people dream on scary clowns, losing their teeth, or flying, I end up with nano-genetic mutations, wormholes, soul thieves, and talking magical doorknobs.

Q: Talking what now?

A: Doorknobs, well, just one actually. So…doorknob. That will be in another novel later. The doorknob also walks around in a trench-coat to hide his brassy features. I think I’ll call him DK.

Q: I’m sorry I asked. Weirdo.

A: That’s me. Isn’t it great?

Q: Great…yes. That’s the word I was looking for. So any plans for a sequel with The Crystal Bridge?

A: Originally, no, but ideas crept into the story anyway. Then I had another dream. At least one more novel, possibly two. I’ve got some great twists planned and we’ll see how the wormholes interact with Aren’s gift more and then the quantum—

Q: Wow. Look at the time. This is all very interesting, but it’s all we have time for today.

A: You just looked at your wrist. Are you trying to get rid of me?

Q: What? Me? Never. I’m nothing without you. You complete me.

A: Yep, you’re right. When you start giving yourself false compliments, it’s time to wrap it up.

Q: I couldn’t have said it better.

A: I’m sure you could have. Or, I could have in the first place. I am a writer.

Q: Are you finished?

A: Yes, sorry.

Q: Thank you, Charles, for joining me today.

A: My pleasure, honestly. Thank you, Charles, for having me and for the wonderful questions. It was fun. And thank you, Lauren, for letting us put a little of my crazy on your blog. You most likely won’t regret it.

Mustache Monday

The Land of Sunshine blog has started a Mustache Monday... Each monday, she posts questions, you answer them on your blog and go leave a comment on hers so everyone can be involved. Super cute.

1. What are you looking most forward to during the Fall?
I LOOOOOVE Halloween. And the leave changing. And the crisp air. And pumpkins. And hot cocoa. And fall fashion. AND HALLOWEEN!
2. If you're having a bad day what always makes you feel better?
Snuggling with my hubby watching a comedy together.
3. If you could pick-up and move to any state where would it be?
We actually might have to do this in a couple months for the hubberz pharmacy school. {But we gotta go wherever he gets accepted} BUT if I could choose, {I'd pick Utah first} BUT if I HAD to choose somewhere out of state, i'd say california because there is a school close to school for him and DISNEYLAND is close for me. :)
4. What is something small that crawls under your skin?
Ew... like a bug?! Sick! {That is TOTALLY what I thought when I first read this.} Ok something that makes my skin crawl is clowns. {I dont know if I interpreted this question right}

Happy Monday everyone! Hope its enjoyable! I have TONS of pics from my weekend, but its taking longer to load than I thought so stay tuned for my ADVENTURE of a weekend!

Ok guys! So my FAVORITE comedy is FINALLY back on. Can you guess? Its got some crazy family dynamics, hilarious writers, won TONS of Emmy Awards. Their last name rhymes with "Sch-unphy"and if you read my title, you would have known right away and thought I was silly for making you guess.
Yes, MODERN FAMILY! Yay. I just barely got into this show in the middle of the last season and I am sooo glad I did. Does anyone else DIE laughing at this show? Anyway, we actually dont have TV at our house. We should, we just cant figure out WHY. So i am stuck waiting for shows to get on hulu so I can catch up. Dont You Wish You Had a Cool Job Like This?

Have you ever had one of those days where you wish you had an outrageous job profession? Do you ever feel like being "Assistant TO THE Regional Manager" just isnt good enough?  Dont you wish you could say something cool when you were asked the question "What do you do?" with an answer like, "My name is Lauren and I train dolphins at Sea World?"

Right now I cant say such things truthfully but I do have something pretty cool to reply.
I am a Princess.
No no, not a snobby, rich, prima donna type. I am literally a princess. You may have seen previous posts about my work but I do princess parties for a little company called Pirate and Princess Parties.

When i was little, my mom and dad would take me to Disneyland and i thought it was heaven. And ever since, I have dreamed of being just like those well known princesses.

i do have a regular job with much less sparkles are involved and I dont get to dance and sing {i would get some really weird looks from my managers} But I am still a princess.
I specialize in making little girls feel beauiful and loved on their special day. I am trained in balloon twisting and face painting; singing and dancing; storytime, crafts and games. I get to be invited to parties as either Snow White and Ariel and an occasional Pirate {but that is a whole other post}

One of my favorite parties I did was one at La Caille Restaurant in Utah. The little girls were beautiful in their fairy and princess costumes. They were in awe of my sticky sweet voice and flowing gown. I was telling my story of Snow White and had gotten just to the part where the Prince wakes me up with a kiss. I pause to sigh but am caught off guard when the little girl sitting next to me looked me dead in the eye and in all seriousness asked...
"Was it gross?"
I looked at her and began to laugh. {How could I not?!}
I told her, "Of course not! It was very magical!" She accepted that answer and went about decorating her princess crown.
My job makes me happy. No words can explain how these little faces light up and fill my soul. They are the sweetest little princesses ever. And they make my job the best one in the world. :)

I tried to upload a pic of me as Ariel, but my stupid connector {I dont even know what its called} isnt working. This is the SECOND one I have bought in the last month! Grr...
Ok vent over.
I am starting to do a series of posts from my fellow Princess Friends and some of their adventures. So stay tuned for that and get excited.

Button Button, Who Wants a Button?

I gotta say, I am getting pretty computer saavy... {Now that I said that, I will probably run into something I dont know how to fix.} But I am so proud of myself for being able to figure things out on my own. I tell ya, this blog would NOT be up and running had I not tried and retried many, MANY things. Nothing like dedication I tell you! And I am dedicated. :) Anywho, here are my buttons I have up for grabs. Dont feel bad for stealing them and putting them on your blog. Go ahead. Do it. :)
I dare  you.
